KAPURTHALA: The Rail Coach Factory (RCF) here has produced record number of coaches in the last financial year as it reached the mark of 1701 coaches against installed capacity of 1500 per annum. During the year RCF produced 23 different variants of coaches for high-speed trains like Rajdhani, Shatabdi, double decker and other trains.
Besides its own production, 150 unfurnished coaches were also produced for RCF Rae Bareli, which is a new production unit of Indian Railways where production has just commenced.
An RCF spokesperson said the factory in association with DRDE also developed a highly cost-effective indigenous technology for treatment of bio waste in coaches. "We have started fitting these bio-toilets in all new coaches. Around 2096 bio-toilets have been fitted in 2013-14," said the spokesperson.
In order to provide timely alarm to the passengers and crew in case of any fire incidence in the train, very early smoke detection alarm has also been provided on stainless steel coaches. Such coaches fitted with VESDA on Nizamuddin-Secunderabad Rajdhani and AC double decker rake were rolled out during 2013-14.via Business - Google News http://ift.tt/1sIq4Ol
